As a Construction Quantity Surveying Technician, you will play a crucial role in the construction industry by managing costs and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will work closely with contractors, clients, and construction managers to monitor and control costs throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. Your responsibilities will include preparing and analysing costings for tenders, preparing valuations, and managing project finances.

This Apprenticeship is designed to provide you with comprehensive hands-on experience and specialised training in construction cost management. You will gain valuable skills in financial management, risk management, and contract law. Additionally, you will learn to use industry-standard software to create detailed reports and estimates, ensuring that all projects meet the required standards and are financially viable.

Course information

This Apprenticeship covers various areas including:

  • assisting with the budgeting and cost control of construction projects
  • managing contracts and selecting specialist contractors
  • facilitating the recording and reporting of project finances
  • supporting the mitigation of disputes through accurate record-keeping
  • collaborating with senior managers on legal and contractual matters. 
Spanning 36 months, this Apprenticeship provides hands-on experience and technical knowledge in essential aspects of construction quantity surveying, including financial management, contract administration, and collaborative working within project teams environment. 

The entry requirements for this Apprenticeship will be decided by the employer, but may typically be five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above.

The end point assessment will consist of an online test, a project, and a professional discussion.

Following successful completion, you could progress into employment within the construction sector. This might include roles such as an assistant quantity surveyor, quantity surveyor, or further specialisation in areas like procurement, contract management, or project management.
