What's it all about?

This part-time body and spa therapy course will give you the specialist skills you need to carry out advanced treatments for beauty therapy, spa therapy, massage therapy and facial electrical treatments. The body and spa therapy route includes electrical facial treatments, body massage, aroma massage, spa treatments and lashes. This course will provide you with all the skills needed for employment in the beauty industry, from mobile therapists to working on cruise liners, salons or spas. 

Course information

This qualification covers a very wide range of skills and knowledge required for working in the beauty sector, including:

 
  • body massage
  • aroma massage
  • facial electrotherapy treatments
  • spa treatments
  • permanent lashes.

The practical units are underpinned by theory of health and safety in the salon, client care and communication, promote products and services, anatomy and physiology and theory of the individual treatments.

Before attending this course, you will need to have completed a facial course to a level 2 standard. If you have completed Level 2 Beauty Therapy, this subject will have been included and the College offers a stand-alone facial course.

You will also need to:

  • have a good knowledge of biology and the body systems
  • be confident in your communication skills.
The course is fast-paced and a focused level of commitment is essential.

This course will be assessed via externally set online theory exams for each of the ten subjects; internally marked practical observations for each of the five practical modules; and completion of a portfolio including assignments.

You will be assessed by practical observations in a realistic environment on paying clients, and through assignment work, which will include oral and written questions. A portfolio of evidence is required to complete the course and support assessments.

On successful completion you may be able to progress to a range of beauty therapy courses at the College.
