What's it all about?

This course is designed for those who work in or wish to pursue a career within the vibrant and creative hairdressing industry. It will provide you with a range of the essential advanced practical skills and theory knowledge, which will prepare you to meet industry standards.

Course information

  • Within this course you will study core hairdressing units such as: 

– cutting women’s and men’s hair to create a variety of looks 

  • – colouring and lightening the hair 
  • – styling and dressing hair 
  • – creative design 
  • – colour correction 
  • – developing an understanding of working safely in the hairdressing industry 
  • – learn professional communication techniques to consult effectively and promote services and products to clients 
  • – preparation to meet industry standards 
  • – how to promote yourself in a professional manner.

You will need to have successfully gained three GCSEs at grade 3 or above to include English, maths and one other subject. Or, an equivalent qualification and a level 2 in hairdressing.

All work will be assessed through development of a practical portfolio, written assignments, online exams and practical observations.

On successful completion you may progress to other level 3 hairdressing courses at the College, or into employment.
