  • When you'll study: Days and times to be agreed at the start of the programme dependant on the qualification. Home educated students will attend up to a maximum of 18 hours per week (including functional skills delivery).

What's it all about?

This course will help to prepare you for work or further education, in addition to furthering your personal development.

This course is aimed at supplementing the education for young people who are 14-16 and are ‘home educated’. Home educated students will attend college on a part time basis and will still be expected to undertake additional studies at home on the days they do not attend college.

Course information

HOME6 – Extended Certificate Units (in addition to the HOME5 award units)

  • Interview Skills
  • Contributing to own healthy living
  • Safe learning in the workplace (health and safety)
  • Preparing for work
    Introduction to alcohol awareness
  • Introduction to drug awareness
  • Understanding crime and its effects
English and maths functional skills will be offered alongside the main objectives of the programme.

This programme is only eligible for young people who are registered as ‘electively home educated’ with their Local Education Authority. Those registered with a school, or having officially left school are not eligible.

The qualification is achieved through course assignments.

You will work through a workbook for each unit to meet the assessment criteria once you have attended taught sessions. There are also exams for the English and maths functional skills part of the study programme. 

On successful completion of the course you may progress onto a full-time College course or Apprenticeship.
