Dedicated students of the FdSc in Computer Systems Development will graduate as highly employable individuals with a broad experience of the computing subject, along with a specialist knowledge, and practical skills in computer systems and networking. You’ll also develop a working knowledge of digital forensics, embedded systems and robotics and systems security.

Course information

The course includes the following subjects:

• computer platforms
• project management
• analysis and design of software
• program concepts
• organisational systems security
• advanced computer networks
• embedded systems and robotics
• digital forensics
• group research project.

We welcome applications from those who have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including maths, English and combined science, and one or more of the following:

  • 48 UCAS tariff points
  • a BTEC National Award in a related subject
  • an Advanced Apprenticeship
  • a NVQ level 3 in a related subject
  • T Level pass in an appropriate subject area
  • equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Should entry requirements not be met then individual cases will be considered.

Assessment will be through a mixture of coursework and examinations.

Options chosen on progression may require some additional preparation in the form of bridging units for students to undertake over the summer period. The bridging unit will contain elements of programming and human-computer interaction.
