What's it all about?

The aim is to develop your confidence and communication skills allowing you to explore and develop public speaking, presentation of self and collaborative working practices, in the context of performing arts.

Similarly, if you are looking for an introduction to acting and performance, this course will provide an opportunity for you to do so in a supportive and nurturing environment. This is a gentle introduction to performance related skills, which are transferable to both the workplace and to starting a career or education in performing arts.

Working with a professional theatre maker, you will navigate your way through this ten-week course and work towards an end goal. Whether you are aspiring to be a professional actor, looking to boost your creative-thinking skills or keen to try something new and build confidence, this short course is the first step on this journey.

Course information

During this ten week course, you will have two units to focus on: acting skills and performance skills.

You will spend your first few weeks building an ensemble working practice, focussing on communication, self-awareness and introducing yourself to confidence building. As the course progresses, the focus will shift to developing skills to aid presentation and performance.

The course culminates by preparing students for an in-house sharing of work.

Throughout the practical delivery, you will be required to keep and develop your own working portfolio. This portfolio is heavily focussed on your journey and developing a reflective practice that has a goal-focussed ethos.

There are no specific entry requirements for this course.

You will be assessed via in-house sharing of work and portfolio.

Upon successful completion you may progress to the UAL Level 1 Diploma in Music, Performing and Production Arts.

Please note fees are quoted for one year only.
