As well as practical skills, this course is designed for students who are looking to build confidence and team working skills.

This course will also provide an opportunity to meet and work with like-minded students who share similar interests in music.

Course information

You will have the opportunity to experience a range of music performance and production projects and activities through achieving units one to six of the course. These will range from rehearsals, performances, composition and music production and are designed to develop your existing skills.

After achieving these units, your final project (unit seven) will determine your final grade – pass, merit or distinction. You will have the freedom to propose a final project that demonstrates you are working to your full potential, showcasing the skills you’ve developed throughout the year. This could be an acoustic act, videoed performances, live work, music technology – it’s up to you!

Your tutor(s) will work closely with you and will provide plenty of feedback to improve during the course, helping you work to your full potential.

You will need to have some musical and/or vocal ability/experience.

GCSE English and maths qualifications are preferred, however these can be studied alongside the music main programme as functional skills or GCSE depending on your grades.

You will be assessed via videoed performances, recordings, audio files, research and reflection.

Achieving a grade merit or higher for this course would enable you to progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Music Performance and Production at the College. Further progression could lead to a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production and beyond!

Please note fees are quoted for one year only.
