About the course

This Extended Pre-Access course will really support anyone wanting to return to
academic study. It will provide you with a solid foundation in the skills required for
further study, developing on the core study skills to support progression to Level 3 or
improve your job prospects. Whatever you decide to do with your future, you’ll be even
more prepared to get there.

What you'll learn

The course will involve a variety of units to improve study skills and personal development topics, such as time management, setting goals and targets, use of IT and research skills as well as basic literacy and numeracy. You may also study some vocational units for their particular area of interest. You will need to achieve a total of 21 credits.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements for this course are as follows:
 Completion of the Pre-Access Award (6 week course)
 Having completed the 6 week course – you will only be required for 4 weeks to
complete the Certificate

There are no exams.

Following completion of the Pre-Access Certificate, you have the opportunity to progress
onto a variety of courses at City College Plymouth, depending on your current English
and maths qualifications. Careers and course information is available.

Important information

Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2020/21 (August 2020 – July 2021). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2021/22.

If you are aged 16-18, due to Government funding, tuition fees may not be applicable for your course. (Please note: this does not apply to Foundation Degrees or Access to Higher Education courses, and other courses not eligible for public funding.)
