What's it all about?

This intensive Level 2 course provides an in-depth introduction to the hair industry. Across ten comprehensive units, you will combine classroom learning, hands-on salon experience and structured home study to develop a strong foundation of knowledge and practical skills.

Designed for committed and creative students, this fast-paced, 37-week course will help you develop the skills and confidence needed to progress in the industry. You will be assessed through practical salon assessments and online exams, preparing you to progress to Level 3.

Our City & Guilds certificate will provide a thorough grounding in the theory and practice with external visits and competitions to help you find the self-assurance and competence to pursue a career in the hairdressing industry. In order to participate fully within your course, you will need to purchase a kit and uniform. Details available at interview.

Course information

You will study:

  • health and safety in the salon
  • client care and communication
  • promotion and sales
  • cutting techniques
  • colouring techniques
  • styling
  • perming.

In our experience in order to be successful on this level of course you will need the following:

  • four GCSEs at grades 3-1 (D-F) minimum including English and maths
  • equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

You will be assessed continuously for progress and achievement by practical observation, external online tests and assignments.

 

On successful completion you may progress to a level 3 course in hairdressing or an Apprenticeship
