T Level in Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing & Control
Teddy, who completed their T Level in Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing & Control with a specialism in Fabrication & Welding Technologies, is a remarkable example of resilience and determination at City College Plymouth. With the support of their teachers and classmates, Teddy earned a Pass, enabling them to pursue Architectural Engineering at the University of Plymouth.
Reflecting on his experience, Teddy shared, “My experience was really nice. I had teachers and classmates who were there to help me when I found stuff hard.” As someone with autism, Teddy faced unique challenges, particularly in the noisy workshop environment, but they found the support they needed to succeed. “I had teachers and my classmates make sure I could do my best,” he said.
A pivotal part of Teddy’s journey was their placement with Westcountry Fabrication, where they gained hands-on experience and a clear vision of their future career. “They taught me so much about not just what I was doing with them but also showed me what my life could be like being an architectural engineer. It showed me that I was in the right place.”
The support extended beyond the classroom, with Teddy receiving help from the Careers team during their university application process. “When I was applying to university, I had the Careers team helping me when I had issues with UCAS. I went straight to them and they helped me go the right way.”
Teddy’s journey is a testament to the power of supportive learning environments and the real-world experience gained through T Levels. Their story highlights how City College Plymouth equips students with the skills, confidence, and guidance needed to thrive in their chosen careers.
