As an Adult Care Worker apprentice, you’ll play a vital role in supporting adults with their daily needs and improving their quality of life. You will assist individuals with personal care, medication management, and fostering independence. Your responsibilities may include assisting with personal hygiene, helping with household tasks, providing emotional support, and promoting physical and mental wellbeing. This Apprenticeship offers a diverse range of experiences and opportunities to develop your skills in a compassionate and supportive environment.

Course information

This Apprenticeship will cover various areas including:

  • principles of adult care
  • person-centred approaches
  • health and safety
  • safeguarding.
This Apprenticeship spans 12 months, combining practical work experience with study. At least 20% of your time will be dedicated to off-the-job training, where you’ll gain valuable knowledge and skills through structured learning and hands-on practice. The remaining 80% will be spent working within an organisation, applying your learning in real-world care tasks such as supporting daily activities, promoting independence, and maintaining health and wellbeing.

For the best chance of success, learners are required to have a minimum of grade 4 (C) in English and maths.

The end point assessment will consist of a situational judgement test (multiple-choice) and a professional discussion. 

Following successful completion, you could progress onto employment within the sector. This may include a role as a care assistant, care worker, support worker, personal assistant, etc.
