What's it all about?

By undertaking this qualification you will learn how to provide full manicure services to clients. This is the perfect course if you are looking to start your career in salon services or to equip yourself with another valuable skillset if you are currently working in the industry.

Course information

During the course, you will cover the following:

  • consulting with the client
  • recognising any contraindications
  • preparing for the service and producing a service plan
  • filing and buffing the nails
  • using skin and cuticle treatments
  • massaging the hand and lower arm
  • providing a suitable nail finish.

In working towards this qualification you will need to maintain effective health, safety and hygiene throughout your work. You will also need to maintain your personal appearance and good communication with the client.

It is important that you have a list of clients that you can call upon to be used for assessment purposes.

There are no specific entry requirements for this course. However, a keen interest in nail care is essential.

Assessment will be carried out via practical observation, completion of written assignments and two externally set and marked exams.

Following successful completion of this course you can progress on to study other short courses in related subjects.
