What's it all about?


The VTCT Level 2 Award in Facial Massage and Skin Care is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in providing facial skin care.

You will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety practices in a salon environment and learn how to promote client care and communications in beauty related industries. 

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform your own salon services.

Due to the fast pace of this course, it is important that you have a bank of clients that you can call upon for assessment purposes. 

Course information

You will study the following units:


  • follow health and safety practices in the salon

  • client care and communication in beauty related industries

  • provide facial skincare.

There are no specific entry requirements for this course, however a keen interest in skincare is essential.


Assessment will be carried out via practical observation, completion of written assignments and three externally set and marked exams.


Following completion of this unit you may progress on to a range of beauty and complementary therapy courses at the College.
