What's it all about?

This Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is suitable for you if you wish to pursue a career in accountancy or finance. The purpose of the programme is to offer a grounding in the core accounting knowledge and skills needed to progress either into employment or to further study. The qualification is suitable for adults returning to work or for anyone wishing to pursue a career change or progression. The course is open to those who are working, or not currently in employment.

Course information

The AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting covers the following:

  • introduction to bookkeeping
  • bookkeeping controls
  • principles of costing
  • the business environment.

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) does not set any prerequisites for the study of the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. However, for the best chance of success, students are required to have a level 2 in English and maths. You will have to pass an initial assessment in English and maths and you will need to demonstrate a genuine interest in the subject. Students on this course will need to pay a registration fee of £175 direct to the AAT.

It is recommended that all students purchase the study texts (available from BPP). Some will be available in the College’s Digital Learning Quarter to borrow. 

This course is marked by computer-based assignments that are set and marked by AAT.

The skills developed by studying this qualification will give you a solid base from which to seek employment with confidence, and/or to progress to the next level of learning. You may wish to progress onto the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accouting or other business and accounting qualifications.
