The construction industry is of considerable economic and strategic importance across the UK. This HNC is designed for those who are already working in, or aspire to work in, the construction industry in a range of roles, including site managers, site engineers, quantity surveyors, building surveyors and architectural technologists. Completion of this course may contribute towards the membership requirements of professional bodies, such as the Chartered Institute of Building.

We welcome applications from those who have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English, maths and combined science, and at least one of the following:

  • 48 UCAS tariff points (for September 2017 entry)
  • a BTEC Level 3 qualification in a related subject
  • an Advanced Apprenticeship
  • an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a related subject
  • equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.
  • T Level pass in an appropriate subject area

All level 3 qualifications should include appropriate elements of level 3 mathematics and science. Should the entry requirements not be met then individual cases will be considered.

Modules are assessed by a mixture of coursework, in-class assessments and presentations.

On successful completion of this course, you may be able to progress to:

  • the final year of the FdSc Construction Foundation Degree at the College, following the completion of 40 credits of additional short course study
  • a wide range of careers within the construction industry such as architectural technician, trainee quantity surveyor or trainee site manager.
