What's it all about?

Thinking about a career in engineering, manufacturing or the marine industries but not sure where to start? The Level 2 Award in Industrial Environment Awareness is a great first step into the sector.

This short, industry-focused course will introduce you to what it is really like to work in an engineering environment and help you develop the knowledge and behaviours employers expect from new recruits. You’ll explore workplace health and safety, communication, teamwork, working effectively with others, and your rights and responsibilities at work.

You don’t need previous engineering experience or formal qualifications to get started. The course is suitable for students aged 16+ who have the potential to achieve the qualification, making it particularly suitable if you have been out of education or employment, want to try engineering before committing to a longer programme, or are looking for a route towards an Apprenticeship.

The qualification is awarded by EAL, a specialist awarding organisation for engineering and manufacturing, and provides knowledge that supports further level 2 study in engineering, manufacturing and marine engineering.

At City College Plymouth, we want this course to be more than just gaining a qualification – it’s your opportunity to take that first step, build your confidence and discover where a career in engineering could take you.
