As a Lead Adult Care Worker apprentice, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care and support to adults in various settings.You will oversee daily care routines, support individuals with diverse needs, and ensure the provision of compassionate and effective care.

Your responsibilities will include leading and mentoring care teams, developing care plans, providing personal and emotional support, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This Apprenticeship offers a comprehensive learning experience, equipping you with the skills and knowledge required to excel in a fulfilling and impactful career in adult care, paving the way for professional growth and leadership opportunities in the care sector.

Course information

This Apprenticeship will cover various areas, including:

  • care planning
  • professional boundaries
  • leadership and teamwork
  • safeguarding.
This Apprenticeship spans 18 months, combining practical work experience with study. At least 20% of your time will be dedicated to off-the-job training, where you’ll gain valuable knowledge and skills through structured learning and hands-on practice. The remaining 80% will be spent working within an adult care setting, applying your learning in real-world tasks such as developing and implementing care plans, supporting individuals with their physical and emotional needs, maintaining professional boundaries, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding protocols. You will also develop expertise in leading and managing a care team, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, and adhering to regulatory requirements and ethical guidelines.

For the best chance of success, learners are required to have a minimum of grade 4 (C) in English and maths.

The end point assessment will consist of a situational judgement test and a professional discussion. 

Following successful completion, you could progress onto employment within the sector. This could include a role as a care supervisor, a senior care worker, a relief team worker, etc.
