What's it all about?

This qualification aims to: 

  • raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental health difficulties 

  • dispel some of the myths and misconceptions frequently linked to mental health issues 

  • develop students’ knowledge of the rights of those with mental health issues.

Course information

You will study the unit ‘develop an awareness of mental health’. 

There are no specific entry requirements for this course. 

To achieve the Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness, you must successfully demonstrate your achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria detailed in the qualification specification. Grades are not awarded. This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed and externally quality assured portfolio of evidence.

Upon successful completion, you may progress to the following courses: 

  • Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Working with People with Mental Health Issues
  • Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills.
