Course information

This course covers the following units: 

Unit 02: Developing self 
Reflect on personal development and improve skills, abilities, and behaviours. 
Unit 06: Individual Rights and Responsibilities 
Learn to develop awareness of individual rights and responsibilities. 
Unit 09: Managing Social Relationships 
Learn appropriate behaviours in social interactions. 
Unit 11: Preparation for Work 
Gain skills and qualities related to employment and application processes. 
Unit 12: Working as Part of a Group 
Gain skills for contributing to group activities and learn to self-review progress. 
Unit 14: Planning an Enterprise Activity 
Learn how to set up an enterprise activity. 
Unit 15: Running an Enterprise Activity 
Learn how to carry out and evaluate an enterprise activity. 
Unit 17: Supporting Others 
Learn how to provide support to others while being aware of health and safety issues. 
Unit 19: Investigating a Vocational Area 
Select and research a vocational area. 
Unit 20: Preparing for Your Next Steps 
Focus on career plans, recognising skills, and preparing for training or work. 

In order to enrol on this course, you must be aged 16-18 and not currently in full-time employment.

You will undertake English and/or Maths Functional Skills if you need to improve your qualifications to progress onto a course, an Apprenticeship, or employment. You will also complete a directed task for each unit to build a portfolio for the level 1 award.

Upon successful completion, you could progress onto the following:

  • an Apprenticeship in health and social care or childcare and education
  • an entry-level position in a healthcare setting or educational support role.
