The course has been designed with former Devon and Cornwall police officers to provide you with all of the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to succeed. 

The teaching team has over 50 years of frontline experience, and mixed with other industry professionals are ready to give you every advantage to go and be the best! 

Course information

The course covers the following units: 

  • citizenship and diversity 
  • behaviour and discipline in the uniformed protective services 
  • global affairs, the media and the uniformed protective services 
  • physical preparation, health and wellbeing 
  • teamwork, leadership and communication in the uniformed protective services 
  • government and the protective services 
  • introduction to criminology 
  • police powers and the law 
  • criminal investigation procedures and practice 
  • planning for and responding to emergency incidents 
  • custodial care.  

In order to be successful on this course, you will need either:

  • five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language and maths
  • successful completion of a full level 2 programme, plus a GCSE in either English language or maths at grade 4 or above.

Assessment methods vary from external set tasks, examinations, written work, presentations and video recordings.
