As a Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprentice, you will be at the forefront of patient care, providing essential support to healthcare professionals and ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. You will work closely with individuals across different healthcare environments, such as hospitals, nursing homes, or community care, assisting with daily activities, monitoring health conditions, and providing emotional support to patients and their families.

Your role will involve a range of responsibilities, including administering medication, supporting patients with personal care tasks, and contributing to care plans. You will be trained to perform clinical duties such as taking vital signs, wound care, and assisting in minor medical procedures, ensuring that you can provide comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s needs.

Course information

This Apprenticeship covers various areas including:

  • providing high-quality, compassionate health and social care support]
  • supporting individuals with their daily living activities
  • monitoring and reporting on individuals’ conditions
  • administering basic clinical tasks under supervision
  • promoting health and well-being
  • maintaining professional standards and confidentiality.
This Apprenticeship spans 24 months, providing apprentices with hands-on experience and practical knowledge in various aspects of healthcare support, such as personal care, clinical assistance, patient monitoring, and collaboration within healthcare teams.

The entry requirements for this Apprenticeship will be decided by the employer, but may typically be five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above.

The end point assessment will consist of an observation with questions and a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence. 

Following successful completion, you could progress onto employment within the sector. This could include roles such as a community support worker, a mental health support worker, etc.
