As a Teaching Assistant apprentice, you will play an essential role in fostering a positive and productive learning environment. You will work closely with teachers and educational professionals to provide invaluable support in the classroom, helping students to achieve their full potential. Your responsibilities will include assisting with lesson planning, facilitating small group activities, and offering one-on-one support to students who require additional help. You’ll be at the forefront of enhancing students’ educational experiences, ensuring that they receive the guidance and encouragement they need to succeed.

This Apprenticeship is designed to provide you with comprehensive practical experience and specialised training in various aspects of education. You’ll develop crucial skills such as supporting literacy and numeracy development, managing classroom behaviour, and using educational resources effectively. Additionally, you will be trained in safeguarding and child protection practices, ensuring that you can contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

Course information

This Apprenticeship covers various areas including:

  • supporting classroom management and learning activities
  • promoting positive behaviour and inclusion
  • facilitating small group and individual learning
  • supporting the development of literacy and numeracy skills
  • collaborating with teaching staff and other professionals.
This Apprenticeship spans 18 months, providing apprentices with hands-on experience and technical knowledge in various aspects of educational support, such as classroom management, behaviour promotion, individualised learning, and collaborative working within a school environment.

The entry requirements for this Apprenticeship will be decided by the employer, but may typically be five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above.

The end point assessment will consist of an observation with questioning and a professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence.

Following successful completion, you could progress onto employment within the sector. This could include roles such as a teaching assistant, a learning support worker, etc.
