What's it all about?

This course demands a lot of practical work from you – this can be daunting at first, but you will be trained to work safely and in a professional manner. You will complete a range of units, be organised, take assessments that will demonstrate your skills and keep a portfolio of your assignments. You can feel proud in achieving a BTEC because, whatever your plans, success in this course will help you progress to the next stage of your learning.

Course information

This course includes learning and assessment based around: making and testing products, carrying out experiments and investigating, measuring and testing variables.

Units studied will include a combination of biology, chemistry and physics.

This course is aimed at any students with little or no background/formal qualifications in science but looking to progress to higher levels of study in the subject. A recommended entry requirement would be a GCSE grade 2 in GCSE Science, but we will accept applications from those without this.

All units in this qualification are internally assessed (assignment work set and marked by your lecturers). This means that there are no exams.

Successful students can progress onto the BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Applied Science (GCSE equivalent) at the College, from which you may progress onto our level 3 suite of science courses (A Level equivalent).

Please note fees are quoted for one year only.
