What's it all about?

This course is a proven route into employment or higher education. The course combines a variety of modules to provide you with an outstanding level of sports knowledge covering all aspects of the sports and active leisure industry. It will allow you to develop skills and core industry knowledge both in a theory and practical setting and is an essential qualification for those interested in all aspects of the sport, health and active wellbing industry.

Course information

Over the course of two years, you will experience many facets of the sports, health and active leisure industry.

  • Developing Coaching Skills 
  • Sport Development
  • Self Employment 
  • Anatomy and Physiology 
  • Applied Coaching Skills 
  • Research Project in Sport (Pearson-set)
  • Sports Massage
  • Fitness Testing 
  • Psychology 
  • Nutrition.

In order to be successful on this course you will need to have five GCSEs at grade four or above, including maths and English. 

This course contains elements of both theory and practical assessments. The assessments will range from written reports, presentations, interviews and working with members of the public. The aim of all assessment methods is to ensure the relevant industry and personal skills are being developed, and that you have a chance to use them in the real world environment.
