What's it all about?

This is an expansive textiles course giving a broad introduction to the full range of materials and processes possible with creative art textiles.

You will experiment with creating colour and texture, fabric structures, manipulation and embellishment, blending practical skills with your own creativity. This course brings together the academic and the creative – craft underpinned with a dash of science and seasoned with artistic context.

With an emphasis on creative reuse and sustainability, you will learn how to transform the humblest of materials into objects of beauty and utility. The course will give a broad introduction to the range of possibilities with creative textiles and so is valuable to anyone interested in fashion, fabric design, interior decoration, or costuming as well as covering issues of recycling and creative reuse of material culture.

You will be taught by an award-winning textile artist, with work in international museums, who is both a skilled practitioner in a variety of techniques and a supportive and knowledgeable lecturer.
